Fire Juggling - Chinese New Year

During the Chinese New Year Celebration of Spring in the city over the past few weeks, I performed on the historical Read Bridge over the Singapore River. This bridge was first built in 1889 and used to be the site for Chinese storytellers, who "spun tales of folk heroes and legends" to workers at the end of the work day. I am glad to be part of the stream of events that take place on that bridge over the passage of time.

Here are a series of photos (taken from video footage) of one of the shows. The audience was fabulous and I enjoyed performing that particular show.

Fire Juggling on the Read Bridge:

On the parapet of the Read Bridge...the parapet has
both a slight incline and slight curvature!

On board and balanced.

Camera flashes are to be ignored while juggling the fire torches.

High toss and finish! Hurray!

JimmyJuggler in The Straits Times

Celebrate Chinese New Year 2010 over the Singapore River. I was delighted that the national newspaper, The Straits Times, made a mention of my show on the Read Bridge at Clarke Quay.

The show info is found on page 7 of the Life! section of The Straits Times (Friday, 12th February 2010). It's highlighted by the orange box in the photo below:

Light Wands

I obtained these new props about 2 weeks ago. Really like them because of the way they are designed. Earlier today, I had performed with them at a product launch event of cameras.

This evening, I took my own camera and recorded a video of myself with the light wands.

Cameras juggled at product launch event

This afternoon I was on Sentosa where a leading brand of cameras and camcorders launched their Spring 2010 line of digital devices at a corporate event. Kudos to the organising team for planning the programme around the products.

Members of the audience were invited to try out the new camcorders and visually capture the juggling action during my show.

After my juggling show, 6 female models strutted on the catwalk and showed off the new line of digital cameras. I, too, had my turn on the catwalk holding and displaying 3 digital cameras, which I proceeded to juggle to the delight of the audience. The 3 cameras were of different colours - metallic blue, metallic orange, and silver - and must have appeared flashy under the spotlights as I juggled them.

Juggling on the Read Bridge

Last Saturday night, I had an enjoyable time performing on the historical Read Bridge that spans the Singapore River. The show is part of an outdoor celebratory event to usher in Chinese New Year, the first day of which falls on 14 Feb 2010.

Here are some photos.

Warm welcome in the cool nighttime air!

Freezing the motion.

Flaming torches in the Finale.
